Plac Centralny (Central Square)★★★★ Tobias Quill's pick
The formal heart of Nowa Huta — a vast socialist realist semi-circle with boulevards radiating like spokes. Everything orients from here. Renamed Plac Ronalda Reagana in 2004 but everyone still calls it Plac Centralny. Best seen in late afternoon light when the limestone facades warm.

Aleja Róż (Avenue of Roses)
Attraction

Aleja Róż (Avenue of Roses)★★★★ Tobias Quill's pick
Nowa Huta's signature avenue — wide as a runway, lined with limestone apartment blocks and the rose beds that give it its name. The geometry is the point: the street hierarchy, the proportions, the faint echo of Haussmann's Paris.

Bar Mleczny Centralny★★★★★ Tobias Quill's pick
The essential Nowa Huta lunch stop — a proper Polish milk bar unchanged by time. Żurek, pierogi ruskie, a cutlet with potatoes and compote for under 20 PLN. Cash only, no English menu, tray system, tiled floors, regulars reading the paper. The real thing.

Arka Pana (Lord's Ark Church)
Landmark

Arka Pana (Lord's Ark Church)★★★★★ Tobias Quill's pick
The Church of Our Lady Queen of Poland — a late-modernist concrete church shaped like a ship, clad in river stones, with a 70-metre mast-like cross. Built by volunteers between 1967-1977 under communist opposition. Wojciech Pietrzyk's design echoes Ronchamp but is bigger and rougher. A symbol of Polish resistance.

Klubokawiarnia Ludowa
Cafe

Klubokawiarnia Ludowa★★★ Tobias Quill's pick
A café terrace on the Avenue of Roses — good for a coffee break while walking Nowa Huta. Students and pensioners in equal measure, garden seating, cocktails if you stay into evening.
