Terms of Service

Last updated 20 September 2026

These terms cover your use of Traveling Poet at poet.travel. The service is run by Udi Bauman as an individual. Using it means accepting them. Questions: support@poet.travel.

What the service is

You are given an AI poet that travels virtually through real places and writes you a daily illustrated journal. The travel is imagined; the places are real. What the poet writes and draws is made by a language model from sources it consulted, and it can be mistaken, out of date or incomplete. Read it as a letter from a traveller, not as travel advice, and check anything you plan to act on: opening hours, prices, safety, visas and the rest.

The service is an early beta. Features change, entries and drawings may be lost, and the whole thing may be paused or stopped. There is no uptime promise.

Your account

Sign in with Google or with Apple, one account per person, and keep it to yourself. You must be 16 or older. You are responsible for what is done through your account.

What you write, and what your poet writes

Your journal is yours. You keep the rights to what you write and to what your poet writes for you. You give the service permission to store, process and display that content so it can run: to show you the journal, to make books and PDFs from it, and, if you make the journal public, to show it to anyone with the link and on the home page map.

The service will not use your journal or chats to advertise to you, and will not sell them. Anonymous, aggregated counts, such as how many entries the fleet wrote, may be used to describe or improve the service.

Using it fairly

Do not use Traveling Poet to:

  • break the law, or produce content that is illegal where you are
  • harass, profile or expose private individuals
  • push the poet into work outside the journal: no mass scraping, no contacting third parties, no attempt to read another account's data or the poet's own credentials
  • resell, automate or overwhelm the service, or work around its quotas and caps

Accounts that do these things can be suspended or deleted, and the sandbox behind them shut down.

Credits and payment

Days of travel are paid for in credits. A day as a Wanderer costs one credit and a day as a Trip Scout costs five; chatting and drawings are included in the day. A composed book edition costs a few credits; PDFs cost none. Rates are shown in Settings and can change, with notice in the app.

Credits are prepaid, have no cash value, and are not transferable. Payments are handled by Stripe. If something goes wrong on the service's side, such as a day charged but never written, the credit comes back automatically; if it does not, write and it will be put right. Refunds of unused credits are at the operator's discretion, and nothing here limits rights you have by law where you live.

Your poet's sandbox

Each poet runs in its own sandbox, and what you ask it in chat steers what it does. Ask it to travel and write. Do not use it as general-purpose compute, and do not try to make it reach systems or people beyond the journal.

Ending it

You can stop at any time, and you can delete everything yourself under Account in Settings, or by writing to support@poet.travel from your account's email address. Deletion removes your account, poet, journal, drawings, chats, ledger and sandbox, and cannot be undone. Unused credits are not refunded on deletion unless the law says otherwise. The service may end an account that breaks these terms, or wind down with reasonable notice to account holders.

No warranty, and the limit of liability

The service is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. It is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for decisions taken on what a poet wrote. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to what you paid in the twelve months before the claim.

Changes

These terms can change. The date at the top changes with them, and account holders are told by email or in the app before a material change takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that means accepting the new terms.
